Long Cane parents, an email was recently sent out to the main guardian email address on file in PowerSchool regarding your child's instructional setting choice for the spring semester. There is a parent survey attached in the email that you need to complete for each child in your household. This survey should be completed for each child regardless of the current instructional setting. If you are unsure if your email address is on file in PowerSchool, please contact the PowerSchool clerk at your child's school and they will confirm. The deadline for completing the survey is this Friday, November 6th. Thank you for your trust in ACSD as we do our best to put students first!
Based on information from the National Weather Service and local emergency management, Abbeville County Schools will be closed Thursday, October 29th. This is out of an abundance of caution due to projected wind gusts and possible power outages. This includes both face-to-face and iTECH students. We will make this day up on Monday, February 22, 2021.
All iTECH students who returned to LCPS after the 1st quarter, as well as those face-to-face students who missed picture day in October, will have their pictures taken from 8:00 - 9:00 on Monday, November 2. All other iTECH students who wish to have their pictures taken should come by the school from 9:00 - 11:00. As a reminder, masks must be worn and social distancing observed while in the building but masks will be removed for photos. Second grade iTECH students who will already be on campus on Monday will have their picture taken once testing is complete.
Good evening! Tomorrow is an early release day for Abbeville County School District to allow our teachers the opportunity to hold phone conferences with parents. We will begin dismissing car riders at 10:25 and buses will depart LCP shortly thereafter. Both breakfast and lunch will be served.
Attention Parents:
Due to COVID-19, DHEC is unable to hold a flu shot clinic in our school. This year, they are offering a drive-by flu shot clinic for school-aged children at the health department. These clinics will be held on October 26 and 27 from 9:00 - 5:30. Please bring your insurance/Medicaid card for them to bill and there will be no out of pocket cost to you.
Yearbooks are now on sale!
To order, visit www.inter-state.com/yearbook and enter code 52890H or return the envelope that was sent home with cash or a check payable to Long Cane Primary School.
Ordering is available until January 29, 2021

Tomorrow is the first day of school!
Students who have opted for the traditional, face to face instruction model should report to school in the morning by 8:00. As a reminder, masks are required to enter the building (both children and adults) and must be worn at all times. Parents wishing to walk their children to their classroom should park in the grass overflow parking lot located adjacent to our staff parking lot. One adult may accompany students to their classroom Monday only but must promptly exit the building after drop off. We will begin dismissal procedures at 2:30.
Students who have opted for instruction via our virtual iTECH Academy should refer to the schedule provided to them when their device was picked up. iTECH teachers will be in communication via email and will go over expectations for this learning model.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to safely begin school. Although it looks different than years past, we're looking forward to a great year filled with lots of learning!
Tomorrow is material pickup for our K5 - 2nd Grade iTECH students. Parents have been assigned a time frame to stop by and pick up devices and other needed materials:
Last Name A - G: 8:30 - 10:30
Last Name H - N: 10:30-12:30
Last Name O - Z: 12:30-2:30
When you arrive to the school, make your way to the gym to complete necessary paperwork and confirm or remit payment of the district’s $25 Technology Fee. Once that is complete, you’ll be directed to the library where you’ll pickup your child’s Chromebook and other needed materials. Before leaving, you’ll sign into their Chromebook and navigate to important websites so that your student is set up for success when school begins next week.
Please don’t forget that a mask must be worn at all times in the building and to observe social distancing. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the start of LEAP Week! Students who have opted for the traditional, face to face instruction model have been assigned to come either Monday and Tuesday OR Thursday and Friday. iTECH students/parents will come Wednesday for device pickup. Regardless of your assigned days, there are a few things we ask you to be mindful of.
All week:
Masks are required to enter the building (both children and adults) and must be worn at all times.
Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday:
One parent may accompany students to their classroom but must promptly exit the building after drop off.
Our school day begins at 8:00 and dismissal procedures will begin at 2:30.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to safely begin school. We can’t wait to see all of our LCPS families this week and kick off a year of great learning!
Attention Parents:
At some point in the next two days, you will be receiving a phone call from your child's new teacher regarding LEAP Day schedules for next week. We're looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
