The Abbeville County School District Board of Trustees has given Superintendent Dr. Lori Brownlee-Brewton an overall rating of “Excellent” for her performance during the 2025-26 school year, marking the second consecutive year she has earned the Board’s highest rating.

During its August 25 meeting, the Board recognized Dr. Brewton’s strong and steady leadership and her continued commitment to the District’s students, employees, families, and community. Board Chairman Tim Rhodes noted that Dr. Brewton has continued to meet and exceed the Board’s expectations since first becoming Interim Superintendent in July 2023.

In recognition of her continued strong performance, the Board unanimously approved a five percent increase in Dr. Brewton’s base salary and increased the performance-based incentive opportunities available under her contract.

The Board has also begun developing Dr. Brewton’s goals for the 2026-27 school year, with a continued focus on building upon the District’s successes and identifying opportunities for further improvement.

Dr. Brewton expressed her appreciation for the Board’s confidence and emphasized how meaningful it is to lead the school district in her hometown, where she has spent nearly her entire career serving students and the community.

The Board looks forward to Dr. Brewton’s continued leadership as Abbeville County School District moves forward through the 2026-27 school year.
