This week, the Induction Class had the opportunity to learn about the District Office and learn more about the different departments that support them behind the scenes each day.
From Human Resources and Finance to Student Services, Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, and Federal Programs, our first-year teachers were introduced to the processes, and services designed to help them succeed. They learned how to access resources, and how each department works collaboratively to support schools and students across the district.
To make the experience engaging and interactive, Mrs. Duncan designed a District Office scavenger hunt. This activity encouraged teachers to become familiar with the District Office resources available to them.
A special highlight of the class session was hearing from Shannon Temple, a 27-year veteran teacher from Wright Middle School. She shared practical classroom management strategies, real insights from her years of experience, and encouraging words to help our new teachers build confidence in themselves.
Her message was both honest and empowering: survive year one, grow through years two and three, and continue building on your knowledge and skills with intention and perseverance. Her wisdom reminded our new educators that growth takes time — and that longevity in this profession is built on resilience, reflection, and relationships.
Teaching is never a solo journey. We want our new educators to know they have a full team standing beside them — ready to answer questions, provide guidance, and ensure they have what they need to thrive in their classrooms.
Our district invests in the Induction class each year and remains committed to supporting them every step of the way.
